Senior Executive Parks Superintendent, Cork City Council, Ireland
Liam Casey has taken the position of the Executive Park Superintendent at the Cork City Council since 1994. He is responsible for the development, management, and maintenance of city parks, outdoor recreation facilities, sports facilities, and amenity walks/cycleways leading a team of professional, technical, and supervisory staff. He also prepares draft policies for Parks and Recreation Services that are incorporated into the Cork City Development Plan, Corporate Plan, and Park Strategy. In addition, he is responsible for the delivery of a wide range of parks and recreation capital projects. His recent projects include Mardyke Gardens, Tramore Valley Park (former landfill site), and Marina Park. He is a City Council representative on University College Cork project research teams undertaking research on green infrastructure, healthy cities, and recreation activities.
Prior to his current role, he was a Parks Officer with North Warwickshire Borough Council from 1989 to 1994.
