In 2013-2018, Tanya Muller Garcia served as Minister of the Environment of the Mexico City. In this position, she implemented programs to improve urban ecology, fostered bicycle mobility programs, and strengthened intermodal transportation in the city. Thanks to her efforts, the Mexican capital won the international air quality award in 2013. In 2014 she was elected to be one of the twelve members of the UN High Level Advisory Group for Sustainable Transport.
Tanya Müller is a founding director of World Urban Parks. She is also a founder and Vice President of the World Green Infrastructure Network, a worldwide association dedicated to the promotion of green infrastructure all over the world and the President of the Mexican Green Roofs Civil Association, dedicated to the research and dissemination of green roofs and walls.
